An Open Holiday Letter From The Web Association

12/22/2008

On behalf of The Web Association’s Executive Board, we wish to extend our wishes for a safe and happy holiday season to all of our supporters.  Despite tough economic times, 2008 was another great year for the organization, and we’ve enjoyed seeing many of you over the past 12 months.  You are all proof that the web community in Northeast Ohio is as alive, vibrant, and creative as it’s ever been, and we are grateful to be in such impressive company.  We certainly have a lot of people to thank.

I’d like to start by recognizing our many panelists, hosts, and speakers in 2008.  Sharing your personal experiences was invaluable to the community.  Panelists/speakers in 2008 included Mark Geyman, Matt Dickman, Shawn Riegsecker, Megan Kacvinsky, Glenn Hasek, Justin Wolford, Mike Veney, Ben Bykowski, Dave Robins, Aaron Rosenberg, Chris Braunsdorf, Dan Hanson, Mike Wise, Marc Majers, John Ettorre, Kate O’Neil, Kevin Kerwin, Paul Forsythe, David Mead, Jason Carr, Tessa Fraser, Jeff Gottesman, Loren Chylla, Rob MacKay, Jason Tabeling, Sage Lewis, Chris Caputo, Leslie Carruthers, and Jim Bartlett.

We’d also like to thank our numerous sponsors and donors from this past year.  Your contributions help underwrite our programming, and generate revenue for our scholarship fund.  2008 donors/sponsors included Western Reserve Internet Services (WRIS), Brulant/Rosetta, Laurie Mitchell & Company, Optiem, National Interstate Insurance, Leading Hands, American Greetings Interactive, Practical Web Strategies, Cleveland State University, Party411.com, NEOUPA, Clear Saleing, Be Well Solutions, IdeaStar, thunder::tech, Paul Elliott (personal donation), John Ettorre (personal donation), and Chris Caputo (personal donation).

While I can’t possibly list everyone who volunteered to lend us a hand during this past year, I did want to recognize each of the 2008 Board Members for their extraordinary efforts.  They include Jim D’Orazio (Practical Web Strategies), Megan Kacvinsky (Optiem),  Jenn Vojta (Optiem), Chris Caputo (AG Interactive), Tessa Fraser (AG Interactive), Shannon Cross (CareerBoard), Cathy Zapata (Key Bank), Justin Wolford (Invacare), Jason Therrien (thunder::tech), Matt Dickman (Fleishman-Hillard), and Jason Carr (Brulant/Rosetta).  Thanks also to Patty Price for her numerous volunteer efforts throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing all of you in 2009.  Happy holidays!

Jon Eggleton
President, The Web Association
